Treatex® Boron Preservative

Treatex Boron Preservative Boron is a naturally occurring mineral found widely in oceans, rocks, soils and plants. Boron has a very wide range of applications, of which timber preservation is one. Treatex Boron Preservative is a deep penetrating primer which protects timber against all common insect and fungal attacks. Treatex Boron Preservative contains no solvents.

Usage

For interior and exterior timbers which do not come in direct contact with water e.g. roofing beams, subfloors and stables.

Application

A trial application is recommended, especially with oak and exotic timbers.
Treatex Boron Preservative should only be applied to untreated wood.
Remove dirt, rough edges and pieces of bark.
Smooth planed and dry wood (moisture content under 15%) should be evenly dampened with water to improve the depth of penetration.
1 litre covers approx 5-7m2.
Stir well before use.
Apply by bushing, spraying or dipping.
When using a brush, apply 1-2 coats depending on the timber.
Should a second coat be required, this should be applied after at least 2-3 hours.
If a white layer of crystallized salt forms moisten with a damp cloth to remove.
Retreat subsequent dry cracks with Treatex Boron Preservative.
Clean brushes with soap and water.

Please Note

Boron salts can be washed off; treated timbers should not be exposed to rain.
Do not apply on iron parts. Do not rub down with steel wool before or after applying Treatex Boron Preservative as iron dust may cause discolouration.
Protect can from frost.
