We often get asked about the environmental aspects of our business. We strive to be as environmentally sensitive as possible whilst providing high quality products in secure containers and packaging.

This is a broad list of our main components and their ingredients.

Boxes

Corrugated cardboard is in general a sustainable product. All our box manufacturers include at least 75% - 90% recycled cardboard in the boxes they produce for us. These boxes along with all wood and paper fibres can be recycled approximately 7 times.

Tins

We work with two main tin manufacturers whose products contain 80% - 95% recycled tin and metal - they can be recycled indefinitely; the quality does not deteriorate. When the tin is empty, allow the residue to dry out before taking to your local recycling centre. Check your recycling centre is happy to accept them.

Plastic

All the plastic containers we use are recyclable. Once sample bottles are empty, allow to dry and simply recycle. Others contain water based products which can be rinsed out with water and placed in recycling bins.

Finishes

Interior products.

Treatex Hardwax Oil Ultra and Colour Tones: These contains approximately 30% - 40% ingredients from renewable resources. In addition, they contain no biocides, preservatives, or carcinogens. All are Cobalt free.

Exterior Products.

Classic Colour Collection are made up of around 35% renewable ingredients.

Exterior Oils, Cedar oil and Grey Cedar Oil are made up of around 25% renewable ingredients.

Cobalt is currently being phased out of our Specialist Exterior ranges. Our aim is to be completely Cobalt free by mid-summer 2020.

None of these figures include the pigments used to make the colours as some are natural, some chemical, some renewable and some not, plus each colour or tone requires a different quantity of pigment!

We continually strive with our manufacturers to improve the quality and sustainability of all our products. This includes using the highest quality ingredients available which, not only offer much higher coverage than other products on the market, but they do not flake, peel or blister, making renovation/reapplication much easier.
