Whether you're working with high-traffic commercial flooring, slippery bathroom steps or dense exotic hardwoods, our additive range offers simple solutions to common wood finishing challenges.

All additives are formulated to integrate seamlessly with Treatex Hardwax Oil Clear, and each one serves a different, practical purpose. These include improving slip resistance, enhancing durability and aiding penetration in oily or dense woods. With just a small addition, you can dramatically improve the finish quality and performance of your timber surface.

R12 Anti-Slip additive

The R12 Anti-Slip Additive is specially developed to improve the slip resistance of surfaces finished with Treatex Hardwax Oil Clear. It's ideal for areas where moisture or smooth flooring could pose a hazard, such as:

  • Bathrooms and wet rooms

  • Stairs and landings

  • Hallways and entrances

  • Public or commercial spaces

This additive can be mixed into one or both coats of Hardwax Oil Clear to create a subtle textured finish that reduces the risk of slips while maintaining the natural look of the wood.

Hardener

The Treatex Hardener is designed to enhance the mechanical resistance of your timber finish, making it the go-to choice for surfaces exposed to high foot traffic, repeated use, or abrasion. When added to one or both coats of Hardwax Oil Clear, it significantly improves the toughness and resilience of the coating.

This additive is highly recommended for:

  • Kitchens and dining areas

  • Commercial floors and retail spaces

  • Schools, offices, and hallways

  • Any area subject to daily wear and tear

Thinner

The Treatex Thinner is designed to improve penetration into dense or oily hardwoods, allowing the first coat of Hardwax Oil Clear to be absorbed more evenly. This additive ensures the finish bonds properly and performs to its full potential.

It's particularly useful for timbers that are naturally oily or resinous, such as:

  • Iroko

  • Teak

  • Ipe

  • Merbau

  • Jarrah
