Thinner

For oily and dense types of timber, we have the Treatex Thinner. This product is the perfect additive for treatments being applied to timbers that struggle to absorb hard waxes, stains or lacquers, such as teak, ipe, iroko and merbau. The Treatex Thinner effectively makes your wood treatment of choice less harsh and allows it to absorb deeper into the wood. 

Available in 1L bottles, we recommend using the Treatex Thinner alongside the Treatex Clear Hardwax Oil for best results. Combining your first coat of treatment with 10% Treatex Thinner will ensure that it penetrates even the most dense and oily of timber types. You’ll be left with a more even finish and robust protection against wear and tear.

  • Mix the first coat of Treatex Hardwax Oil Clear with approximately 10% Treatex Thinner. Apply the mixture as you would apply Treatex Hardwax Oil Clear. There is no need to thin the second coat of Treatex Hardwax Oil Clear.
